New Season Swede Back to Produce

Related to the turnip but with a rougher skin that is tan and purple, the swede's sometimes rough appearance belies its fine texture and distinctive, sweet tasting flesh.

When roasted or mashed, swede makes a simple and tasty side dish. It can also be added to stews or soups or mixed with other vegetables such as carrots. Grown on the border of England and Scotland the swede thrives in hard weather conditions and is the archetypal winter root vegetable. We buy from a variety of growers on the borders or from Lincolnshire.
