Doing the right thing
As suppliers of freshly grown produce, we understand how important it is to look after the planet. Delicious produce needs a good environment to thrive – and we are working hard to reduce the impact we have on it.
We pride ourselves on working with local producers and suppliers. Over 60% of our produce is sourced locally, so produce is fresh and our carbon footprint is reduced – and yours too! For products that can’t be produced locally we minimise deliveries and work alongside producers who are committed to sustainability and transparency in the supply chain.
We are moving towards using more re-usable crates made from recycled plastic for deliveries as well as boxes made from recycled cardboard. We work with our customers to ensure that no food is wasted and plan deliveries so that customers get exactly what they need. Our produce always arrives as fresh as possible to maximise shelf life. Initiatives such as these reduces the amount of food waste going to landfill – waste food is a huge contributor to excess CO2 emissions.
People and community
We recognise the importance of paying a fair wage to our highly-skilled workforce and have invested heavily in creating development and training opportunities. We are proud of our local community and work with local charities to give back where we can.
We make regular donations to Manorland Hospice in Oxenhope, providing sponsorship and hampers of quality produce for raffles and other fundraising activities. We have also worked with Ampleforth Abbey to support their charity cycle rides and the Skipton Food Bank.
